Significantly. A photo shows what something looked like. A LiDAR scan shows exactly where it is in three-dimensional space — to the millimetre. You can measure distances, identify service locations, and reference exact coordinates years later. Photos can't do that.

No you don't! Everything is web hosted, meaning the only thing you need to access your data is an internet connection. This is the easiest way to share the data between your team members, instead of locking it onto one computer.

We aim to turn the data around within 24 hours of leaving your site! The render time is based on overall size, so this can vary- but 9 times out of 10 you will have the data ready to go the next business day.

You can access all of your scan data via our Sitescan portal. We set up a company specific dashboard where you can log in and see all of your previous scans. Here you can access, manage documents, attach PDFs and find all your QR code and printable documents for each project.

Your scan data will live in storage indefinitely. Once you aren't using the data as often, we ask that we archive the space meaning it doesn't use as much data, similar to zipping a folder on your desktop. You can still access it whenever you need over the 10 year warranty period and beyond.

You can, however this is the point where you will need expensive software to access these files. Your scan data can be converted to Revit files, CAD files, BIM models- all very powerful 3D tools.

Sitescan is commonly used at key stages including existing conditions, pre-concrete pour, pre-plaster rough-in, and final handover. Scanning at these stages ensures all critical elements are documented before they are concealed or completed.

Measurements taken within a Sitescan model are accurate to the millimetre. This is dependant on lighting conditions and other factors, however you can expect the measurements to be less that 5mm accurate over 5m. This allows you to confidently locate services, check clearances, and take reliable measurements directly within the software without returning to site.

Yes. If the site is scanned at the pre-plaster rough-in stage, all visible services such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and framing are captured. You can later reference these scans to see exactly what is behind the plaster, helping avoid damage and guesswork.

Unlike photos or videos, Sitescan creates a fully navigable 3D model with spatial accuracy. You can walk through the space virtually, take precise measurements, view angles and heights, and reference the entire site rather than relying on isolated images that may miss critical details.
